Just in case you didn’t know what it really means … yes, it’s Latin …

sic

“ thus ”, “ just so ”

states that the preceding quoted material appears exactly that way in the source, usually despite errors of spelling, grammar, usage, or fact.

It definitely does not mean:

  • “ spelled incorrectly ”
  • “ spelling is correct ”
  • “ sited [sic] in context ”;
    besides, that would be “ cic ” - duh!
